In Florida, obtaining a building permit is mandatory for all swimming pools. While every County or Municipality might have its nuances, they generally adhere to the Florida Building Code. For residents of deed-restricted communities, there's likely a need to seek approval for new constructions. It's advisable to initiate this alongside our permit processing.

After securing all necessary permits and approvals, we'll assemble all required materials and commence the building phase. Before diving into construction, a "pre-start" meeting with our Pool Construction Managers is essential to overview the project. Following this, we're set to begin crafting the pool you've always dreamed of!

The initial phase involves clearing any visible organic matter (like grass) from the surface. Following this, our layout crew shapes the designated excavation area. Our excavation team then takes over, ensuring the pool and/or spa is dug to precise depths and dimensions. During this stage, essential plumbing and de-watering rock are also integrated. Reinforcing steel is subsequently positioned in the walls and floors, securing any components that will later be encased in the concrete structure.

The subsequent phase involves forming the pool's concrete structure. Using a method termed as "shooting" gunite or shotcrete, we apply concrete pneumatically at a high speed to establish the primary structure of the pool and/or spa.

Once this is completed, what you see is the foundational "pool shell." It's akin to the base of a house, the foundation upon which everything else is constructed.

Firstly, the pool shell is filled and stabilized using backfill dirt. The plumbing team then connects essential fixtures to the pool shell and positions pipes in trenches leading to the pool equipment spot.

In Florida, many pools feature an aluminum screen enclosure, or "cage", to minimize insect intrusion. To ensure this cage remains anchored, we pour a concrete footer for its attachment. Our concrete specialists shape the pool deck's boundary and pour concrete, forming a stable footing.

During this stage, essential electrical bond wiring for the pool is also installed where necessary.

Subsequently, we move to a phase where your personalized choices come to life. The tile specialists prepare the upper sections of the pool shell (known as the pool beam) and set the waterline tiles along with the deck coping.

The ground within the footer is evened out and compressed. Then, a foundational layer, or paver base, is compacted, setting the stage for the placement of concrete or natural stone pavers.

Upon completion of the deck, measurements are taken by the aluminum contractor to prepare for the "cage".

The pump, filter, and any additional equipment options are set up and connected to the underground plumbing that was positioned earlier. This usually occurs after the deck installation but before the interior plastering begins.

Once the aluminum screened enclosure has been pre-constructed offsite, it's brought in and set up on location. Following this, a child safety barrier is put in place. With these steps completed, we're all set to commence with the interior plastering.

Each of our pools receives an “exposed aggregate” finish, often referred to as plaster. The pebble interior plaster finish is especially popular, both for its visually appealing look and its long-lasting durability.

This finish not only seals the pool shell but also enhances the visual appeal of the pool's floor and walls. Generally, this process involves two stages: the primary work is carried out on the first day, followed by a mild acid wash on the second day to clear away any residual dust from the surface.

We're on the final stretch! After the finishing touches have been applied, it's time to fill the pool with water. Depending on the pool's size and the water pressure at your residence, the filling process usually takes between 24-48 hours.

Once the pool reaches its full capacity, we kickstart the equipment and introduce the necessary chemicals. These are the same chemicals you'll be using to keep your pool water balanced and sanitized throughout its lifespan. The standard startup period is 30 days, after which the pool is all yours to look after and relish.
